Biography

Jordana LèSesne is a musician, singer, DJ, and producer born in Pittsburgh, PA who works under the name “Jordana”.

Jordana has been producing music since the early 90s and is an original Junglist from the USA.  As both a DJ and Producer she has toured as a headliner and played alongside many of the top DJs in the world of Electronic music. In September of 2015 Mixmag named Jordana as one of 20 Women Who Helped Shape Dance Music. She has also worked with artists such as Mike Joyce (formerly of The Smiths), Deborah Harry and Blondie, Lady Sovereign, Yellownote & TC Izlam from Liquid Sky Records. She’s had over 50 releases throughout her career. In addition to production she’s a skilled turntablist and toured with artists such as DJ Craze. Jordana was the first out trans woman in the USA to have a music video on MTV. In 2014 she scored the documentary by Laverne Cox and Jacqueline Gares, “Free Cece”, a topic that was close to home for Jordana as she is also a hate crime survivor. This crime is spoken about in the song she screened in 2020, “Fight for our Lives”.

The Pittsburgh, PA native first came to popular attention in the mid 90s and is considered an early Pioneer of American Drum and Bass and produced and performed and released on Liquid Sky Records/Jungle Sky Records. In 2001-2003 Jordana was known as Lady J and was a regular DJ on FLEX FM in London, UK while playing and producing Garage Music and 2Step. She’s additionally been involved in the metal and punk scene in both Pittsburgh and Seattle as a guitarist and singer.

Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, Jordana returned to the public eye with the politically-charged single ‘Fight For Our Lives’ and a handful of newer productions, teasing a full-album release. She also released ‘The Uprising’ DJ mix to Mixcloud and DJ’ed part of Kremwerk’s online Pride celebrations as well as on London, Seattle and LA FM radio. In addition she performed at Seattle’s “Drum and Bass Tuesdays” Livestream as her debut appearance which is the longest running D&B weekly event in the world. 2021 has already seen her be invited by the prolific festival and brand Dekmantel to contribute to their podcast series and she headlined on a lineup with Arca for Currents.fm as a part of Un/Tuck and Hot Mass Planet Zolean Multiverse.
